MINNIE PEARL RATLIFF BORN OCTOBER 3 1922 DIED JUNE 21 2001 SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER HUSBAND CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS RATLIFF WHO DIED IN 1979AND A DAUGHTER RUTH CAROLL RATLIFF WHO DIED IN 1964 SHE HAD 2 DAUGHTERS AND 5 SONS 19 GRANDCHILDREN AND 9 GREAT GRANDKIDS. I DONT HAVE JUST ONE FAVORITE MEMORY OF HER. SHE WAS SUCH A GREAT PERSON.SHE WAS MY GRANDMOTHER.I LIVED WITH HER ALL OF MY LIFE. SHE HELPED MY PARENTS RAISE ME AND MY 2 BROTHERS. SHE WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET. SHE HAS BEE GONE FOR 8 YEARS NOW AND I STILL THINK ABOUT HER EVERY DAY. SHE ALWAYS TUCK CARE OF US SHE LOVED EVERYONE. THE YEAR SHE DIED IS THE YEAR I HAD MY DAUGHTER. I DIDNT EVEN KNOW I WAS PREGNANT BUT THE DAY BEFORE SHE DIED SHE TOLD ME I WAS. NOT BELEVING IT I JUST LAUGHED IT OFF BUT SURE ENOUGH I WAS 5 MONTHS THE MONTH SHE DIED. ANYWAY MY DADDY TOLD ME WHEN HE WAS GROWING UP SHE ALWAYS COOKED SHE ALWAYS HAD A TABLE FULL OF FOOD AND WOULD COVER IT UP SO PEOPLE WHO CAME IN THROUGH THE DAY COULD EAT. ANYWAY THE DAY SHE DIED WE FOUND HER IN HER ROOM AT 7AM WITH A SMILE ON HER FACE I AM JUST SO HAPPY SHE DIED IN PEACE. SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED I MISS HER EVERYDAY AND SHE HAS BEEN GONE FOR SO LONG. JUST WANT TO LET GRANDMA KNOW SHE WILL BE MISSED FOREVER. I WALK THROUGH THE HOUSE TILL THIS DAY AND STILL LOOK AROUND TO SEE IF I CAN FIND HER. I SIT VERY QUIETLY TO SEE IF I CAN HEAR HE BUT I CANT. I KNOW I WILL SEE HER AGAIN SOMEDAY

Pearl and Columbus Ratliff
Columbus was my dads cousin and I spent all my toddler years at their house on sundays. Pearl would always have a table full of food. The song "flys on the butter" by the Judds always reminds me of her. She was the sweetest person and always had a smile. She loved kids, that is why she had so many and helped raise everyone elses. She was an angel. I am trying to find out who Columbus Ratliff's parents were, so I can find how he was related to my dad exactly, if anyone can help.
